Behind every scoreline there is a sequence of decisions (attack direction, body part, serve quality, block reading) and our job is to capture the layer that the bare result hides.

A trained scouter watches the video and tags every rally: who touched the ball, with which body part, in which quadrant it landed and how the point ended.

Scouting is the point-by-point record of a match: who touched the ball, with which body part, in which quadrant it landed and how the point ended. On Areia Score every scout is logged by a trained scouter and checked by a reviewer before it is published.
They are the nine equal regions the opponent's court is divided into, numbered from the attacker's view: Q1 to Q3 just past the net, Q4 to Q6 in the middle and Q7 to Q9 on the baseline. Every attack is recorded by the quadrant where the ball landed, not where it came from.
The rating runs from 0 to 10 and comes from the scout: attack points, errors, digs and blocks, weighted by match volume. With few matches the rating stays close to the middle of the scale and only moves away as the sample grows.
